Chars
Chars is a delightful and easy-to-use note-taking app for quickly writing down your thoughts. Then sharing, tweeting, or using them the way you want. Also, there is a built-in special character keyboard working inside the app or as a system-wide keyboard extension.
A concept of this app started as a web-page of popular Unicode characters that I needed sometimes. I thought that it would be awesome to have a native iOS app that allows typing those symbols with an external keyboard, and my friend Marat suggested developing it.

Chars on iPhone X
Some months after the initial release, we realized that Chars is so simple and intuitive that it could beat other note-taking apps in the speed of use. So I redesigned it to be the super-fast gesture-driven app that serves especially well in rush situations.
It allows starting typing in milliseconds by swiping down the list of notes, creating a new one. It displays notes with bigger fonts and emphasizes special notes with colors. It gives additional haptic and audio feedback while working. It loads lightning-fast. Its size is just ≈ 20 megabytes. And it has no settings screen.

While working on Chars, we developed a lot of small but very useful features including the “Extra” pack that can be purchased inside the app. All these features made a unique app experience that is beloved by its users according to App Store reviews.
